Vikings’ Kirk Cousins Speaks On Possibly Playing For Bill Belichick

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will be a free agent in March. Bill Belichick already is one.

So, could the two parties ultimately join forces with an NFL franchise this offseason?

While speaking to Isabel Gonzalez of CBS Sports this week, Cousins addressed the possibility of teaming up with the former New England Patriots head coach.

“I have great respect for him as a coach, like everyone else in pro football,” Cousins said. “I mean, if you go to that many Super Bowls, win that many Super Bowls, go to that many conference championship games, have the defensive production he’s had for years and years, it says it all.”

Belichick led the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships and nine Super Bowl appearances in 24 seasons with the club.

“I’m not gonna turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach,” Cousins said. “But we’ll have to see where March leads. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now.”

But just where could Cousins and Belichick end up together?

Well, the Atlanta Falcons have already spoken to Belichick and are bringing him in for a second interview, and they are certainly in need of a quarterback.

The Falcons bounced back and forth between Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke under center this past season, and neither signal-caller seemed up to the task. Atlanta ended up going 7-10.

Perhaps the Falcons, in the terribly weak NFC South, could make some noise if they hire Belichick and sign Cousins to run the offense?

It should also be noted that Cousins’ wife is from Georgia, and her parents still live there.

We’ll see what happens in a couple of months, but the idea of Kirk Cousins playing for Bill Belichick is not exactly outlandish.
