Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Maxx Crosby is getting tired of watching the playoffs from home.
Since joining the Raiders as a fourth-round draft pick back in 2019, Crosby has made the postseason just once. That appearance came in January 2022, and Las Vegas ended up losing in the Wild Card Round.
In general, the Raiders have made just two trips to the playoffs since 2003, but Crosby is aiming to change that.
While speaking on his podcast “The Rush” this past weekend, Crosby said that as long as Las Vegas retains Antonio Pierce as head coach, it will be next up in 2024.
“Like, we keep AP and we build on what we already started, I feel like that’s gonna be us,” Crosby said. “We’re gonna be right in contention to be in the playoffs next year, without a doubt, if we just keep things going in the way it’s going.”
Crosby has been staunch in his support for Pierce, and a report surfaced last week that the star pass rusher would explore a trade if the Raiders ended up letting Pierce go.
He didn’t appear to budge from that stance on his podcast.
“But if we blow (expletive) up again, then it’s a bunch of question marks and we start from ground zero again, and I’ve got to question what we’re doing, you know what I mean?” said Crosby. “On a personal level. Because I want to win. I mean, I am sick of losing, I am sick of being in limbo all the time, where there’s always change, there’s always something new.”
Crosby racked up 90 tackles, 14.5 sacks, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery this season, en route to his third straight Pro Bowl selection.
However, in spite of his impressive individual accolades, Maxx Crosby is clearly not satisfied. He wants more team success, and he obviously feels that the Raiders can experience that if they decide to roll with Pierce.
Pierce took over in an interim role after Las Vegas fired Josh McDaniels midway through the season. The Raiders went 5-4 under Pierce. They went 8-9 overall.
