Following the Kansas City Chiefs‘ win over the New England Patriots last weekend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was seen having an on-field discussion with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

What exactly were the two legends discussing? Kelce answered that question on his New Heights podcast with his brother and Philadelphia Eagles center, Jason Kelce.

“I just mentioned how much I respect him and how much it’s always the biggest challenge I go up against in the National Football League is going up against one of his defenses,” Kelce said. “I just wanted to make sure he heard that from my mouth. It’s been a pleasure going up against him all these years.”

Kelce logged five catches for 28 years in the 27-17 victory, which represented his third-lowest yardage total of the season. Belichick’s game-planning surely had an impact on Kelce’s less than stellar outing, and that is something Kelce is used to.

“I was honestly just going up to him to pay respect over the 10 years that I’ve been going up against him and how much I appreciate the challenge every single time,” Kelce added. “Hats off to him for always being that great.”

On the season overall, Kelce has caught 85 passes for 924 yards and five touchdowns and seems well on his way to earning his ninth straight trip to the Pro Bowl.

The 34-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Cincinnati, was selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

An injury knocked Kelce out of his rookie campaign, but by his second season, he had already established himself as one of the league’s best tight ends.

His best year came in 2020, when he hauled in 105 receptions for 1,416 yards and 11 scores.

In addition to his Pro Bowl appearances, Travis Kelce has also notched First-Team All-pro honors four times.

The Chiefs are 9-5 and will battle the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day. Meanwhile, the Patriots are 3-11 and will take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday.
