Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is enduring the most trying season of his NFL career to date, and much of it has to do with the fact that he lacks elite weapons at his disposal.

That’s why the Chiefs should do whatever they can to supply him with better supporting talent this coming offseason.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine names three offensive players that Kansas City should target in the spring: wide receiver Marquise Brown, offensive lineman Trent Brown and tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders (which would be through the NFL Draft).

Brown will be one of the top receivers available on the free-agent market. He is currently playing out his final season with the Arizona Cardinals and has logged 51 catches for 574 yards and three touchdowns this year. Those aren’t exactly great numbers, but he spent most of 2023 with Josh Dobbs throwing him passes, so his lack of production is understandable.

The 26-year-old is now in his fifth season and spent the first three years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens, where he logged a 1,000-yard campaign in 2021.

Marquise Brown would almost surely flourish in the Chiefs’ offense.

Meanwhile, the other Brown—Trent Brown—would provide a stable option at left tackle for Kansas City, as that is an area in which the Chiefs have had problems this year.

Trent Brown has played for three different franchises since entering the NFL in 2015 and is now in his second stint with the New England Patriots.

He has only made one Pro Bowl throughout his professional tenure, which came with the Oakland Raiders back in 2019. However, even in his non-Pro Bowl seasons, he has remained a solid presence.

Meanwhile, Sanders is playing his collegiate football at the University of Texas and is expected to be one of the top tight ends available in this upcoming draft class. In 13 games with the Longhorns this season, Sanders caught 39 passes for 607 yards and three scores.

The Chiefs do have Travis Kelce holding down the position at the moment, but Kelce is 34 years old and is contemplating retirement, so Kansas City may need to start thinking about the future now.

For that reason, Sanders makes sense.

The Chiefs are 9-5 this season and will battle the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day.
