Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence played during his team’s Week 14 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in spite of a high-ankle sprain, and head coach Doug Pederson provided an update on his status heading into the new week.

“We’ll be careful with it, but right now being a Monday, if we had to practice today, he’d probably not,” Pederson said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “But if he comes back Wednesday, should be good to go.”

Given that Lawrence just took the field this past weekend and was healthy enough to throw 50 passes, the fact that Pederson said he wouldn’t have Lawrence practice the day after the Browns game shouldn’t be too alarming. Plus, Pederson specified that his signal-caller would likely be fine to practice later in the week, so everything appears good to go right now.

Lawrence went 28-for-50 with 257 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the 31-27 loss to Cleveland.

The 24-year-old initially injured his ankle during the Jaguars’ Week 13 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and walked to the locker room without the use of a cart. The decision was widely criticized afterward, and even Lawrence himself said he should have used a cart instead of making the trip on foot.

However, it appears that it was no harm, no foul, as Lawrence’s injury was not nearly as severe as originally anticipated.

On the season overall, Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 3,261 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 picks while completing 66.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.2.

The Clemson product has taken a bit of a step back after last year when he totaled 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Jacksonville has lost two games in a row to fall to 8-5. It will take on the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday.
