The Miami Dolphins and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio have reportedly reached a mutual agreement to part ways. It is anticipated that Fangio will join the Philadelphia Eagles in the same capacity, working under head coach Nick Sirianni, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The desire for Fangio to collaborate with the Eagles in 2023 was evident, but circumstances did not align last offseason.

Now, with his departure from the Dolphins settled, it appears that the Eagles and Nick Sirianni are on the verge of securing a highly-respected figure to assume the role of defensive coordinator.

The interest between Fangio and the Eagles traces back to the previous year, where he even contributed as a consultant in helping the Eagles strategize for the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sirianni is overseeing a reset of both coordinator positions this season. While the appointment for the offensive coordinator role is yet to be determined, securing the services of a seasoned coordinator like Fangio would mark a strong start to the offseason if the deal materializes.

The pace of this hiring process will be closely observed, given the existing mutual interest between both parties dating back to the previous offseason.

2024 holds significant importance for Sirianni, and making the right coordinator hires is crucial. The potential addition of Fangio is likely to excite many fans following a challenging conclusion to the 2023 season.

As for the Dolphins, they now face the task of filling the vacant defensive coordinator position once again. It will be intriguing to see the candidates they target to assume this role under the leadership of Mike McDaniel.
