The Dallas Cowboys picked up a huge victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football, 33-10, on Sunday Night Football. It was a revenge game for Dallas, who lost in Philadelphia a few weeks prior as they were unable to execute in crunch time to pull off the upset on the road.

This time around, they were clicking on all cylinders. It was a dominating performance from start to finish as the Cowboys went right down the field for a touchdown on the opening drive and never looked back. They forced a fumble on Jalen Hurts on the first Eagles drive, as big plays were made on each unit.

Leading the way for the offense once again was quarterback Dak Prescott. He threw for 217 yards in the game with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Yet, he came away feeling like he didn’t perform up to his standard.

“Solid enough to get the win,” the quarterback said. “I’ve told you before, I’m my biggest critic. Obviously, not my best game. … Did enough to win, but I always want to do better.”

While Prescott was critical of his own performance, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones couldn’t say enough positive things about his team’s quarterback. He had a ton of paise for Prescott, hoping the game will quiet some of his doubters.

“Dak Prescott, for anyone that might have a question about it, for him to come in here and play like that against Philadelphia, he should have his due,” Jones said. “That ought to shut that door of questioning his ability to play in a playoff-type game.”

While it was a solid all-around performance by the Cowboys and Prescott, he has to show that he can get the job done when it matters in the postseason. He is 2-4 in his career in the playoffs, contributing to the franchise’s NFC Championship drought.

That could certainly change this season, as Prescott has looked like a different player. He has improved dramatically in the ball security department with only six interceptions on the season; three of which came in a drubbing at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. He is now the odds-on favorite to win the MVP award, something Jones thinks he deserves.

“First of all, as far as what it represents, which would be his importance to the team, he doesn’t have to win that award for me to know how important he is to our aspirations this year, where we are and where we’ve got a chance to go,” Jones said. “He’s got that kind of appreciation from I think everybody in this organization.”

The 28 touchdown passes that Prescott has is first in the NFL. Cutting down on the turnovers is certainly a positive, as his struggles at times in 2022 undid a lot of the good he and the team accomplished.

Ultimately, the MVP award isn’t what Prescott is focused on. He wants that Super Bowl ring and thinks about it every day. Jones does as well, issuing a bold statement about his quarterback in the process.

“Dak is a player who is qualified in every way to have a Super Bowl in his career,” Jones said.
