Refusing to limit her impact to the music scene in 2023, Taylor Swift has progressively woven herself into the sports narrative, marking a notable presence in the realm of athletics connected with Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
In May, Swift captured headlines when she declared her allegiance to the Philadelphia Eagles during a concert in the city. Subsequently, she sparked a new wave of public interest by entering into a relationship with Travis Kelce, the tight end for the reigning world champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, regularly attending their games.
This development has somewhat shifted the spotlight away from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who, despite being a standout player, now finds himself overshadowed by the burgeoning presence of Swift in the sports arena.
Nonetheless, Mahomes conveyed on Friday morning that he and the Kansas City team remain unfazed by Swift’s newfound association with their ranks.
In an interview with CBS host and former NFL wide receiver Nate Burleson, Mahomes shared his initial observations of the evolving situation.
“At first, I felt like everybody kind of stayed away [from the subject], and just let [Kelce] do what he was doing. And then he started bringing Taylor around, and we realized how cool a person she was, and she is.”
Mahomes further disclosed that Swift has seamlessly integrated herself into Chiefs fandom.
“There were a couple jokes here and there at the beginning,” Mahomes revealed. “Now, she’s just part of Chiefs Kingdom now. She’s part of the team. It’s cool that she’s embraced Brittany [Mahomes, Patrick’s wife], and they’ve built a friendship as well.”
There’s no doubt that Taylor Swift has stolen the show when it comes to the Chiefs. However, it’s good to hear that the team and players have gotten comfortable and view her as part of the team with the playoffs right around the corner.
