Caleb Downs

Caleb Downs, an exceptional true freshman in the history of Alabama football, is contemplating his departure from the program.

This former five-star recruit, who swiftly earned a starting position in the Crimson Tide’s secondary, is currently mulling over his future. While he hasn’t reached a final decision, he’s keeping his options open.

“I was told that Alabama freshman Caleb Downs hasn’t made a decision on his future yet, if he’ll stay or transfer. He’d like to see who’s added to the Bama defensive staff, but very likely could make a decision either way tomorrow. Travaris Robinson staying at Georgia factors in.”

Should Downs choose to leave, he would undoubtedly attract significant interest from some of the nation’s premier football programs.

Notably, Georgia and Ohio State have emerged as potential destinations for Downs amid the ongoing transfer speculation.

It’s worth noting that in the 2023 class, he was ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

Losing Downs would undoubtedly pose a significant setback as the Kalen DeBoer era kicks off in Tuscaloosa.
