According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the New York Knicks are interested in trading for Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson.

The Knicks are targeting an extra ball-handler at the NBA trade deadline.

“Word is that the Knicks have a level of interest in Utah’s Jordan Clarkson as well as a trio of guards they have been linked to previously: Portland’s Malcolm Brogdon, Charlotte’s Terry Rozier and Detroit’s Alec Burks,” Stein wrote.

Clarkson is averaging 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks this season for the Jazz while shooting 41.7% from the field, 31.4% from beyond the arc and 88.2% from the free-throw line. He’s making $23.5 million.

The Knicks are open to trading Evan Fournier and Quentin Grimes. They already made one trade this season, sending RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Toronto Raptors for OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn.

NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report reported on December 18 that the Jazz were open to trading Clarkson. However, Utah is now in ninth place in the Western Conference standings, so it’s unknown if the franchise is still open to moving the scoring guard.

The 31-year-old Clarkson has career averages of 16.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Jazz. He won the 2020-21 Sixth Man of the Year Award with the Jazz.
