According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Brooklyn Nets are interested in acquiring Dejounte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks.

However, the Nets are shying away from the Hawks’ asking price for Murray.

“Thus far, Brooklyn is shying away from Atlanta’s asking price of at least two first-round picks for Murray, HoopsHype has learned,” Scotto wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Since December 26, the Nets have won only one game, with a Friday night matchup against the Lakers next on their schedule.”

The Hawks are expected to trade Murray before the NBA trade deadline, which is on February 8. Murray is drawing interest from the Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets Updates

The 27-year-old Murray is averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 47.1% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 82.5% from the free-throw line. The one-time All-Star is making $17.7 million.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Murray views the Nets as an ideal trade destination. However, since Murray doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, he can’t control where he gets traded.

Murray signed a four-year, $114 million extension with the Hawks in July. The extension kicks in next season. Murray will make $24.8 million in 2024-25. He is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.

Murray has career averages of 14.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Spurs and Hawks. He made the 2017-18 All-Defensive Second Team and won the 2021-22 steals title.
