According to NBA insider Marc Stein, James Harden is expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer.
Harden becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.
“While James Harden (ineligible for an in-season contract extension) must wait until the summer before he, too, is expected to extend his stay in Clipperland,” Stein wrote.
The Clippers acquired Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers on November 1, 2023. Harden requested a trade from the Sixers to the Clippers and the future Hall of Famer has played well with LAC.

A 10-time All-Star, Harden is averaging 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks while shooting 45.6% from the field, 41.9% from beyond the arc and 87.3% from the free-throw line. He has 10 double-doubles and the Clippers are 22-12 with “The Beard” in the lineup.
Kawhi Leonard signed a three-year, $150 million extension with the Clippers last week. Paul George is expected to sign an extension soon and Harden will re-sign with the franchise once free agency starts.
“I think for the most part, everybody is coming back,” Leonard said after signing his extension. “With me signing the extension, I think it gives us a chance to sign both of those players.”

Harden, who turns 35 in August, has career averages of 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.6 blocks with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Sixers and Clippers. He has made seven All-NBA teams. The lefty won the 2017-18 MVP Award with the Rockets.
