The Golden State Warriors are interested in acquiring Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors, according to NBA insider Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors and Raptors discussed a Siakam trade in recent weeks.

“Let’s start here: These teams have discussed Siakam in recent weeks,” Slater wrote. “I’ve heard that on a more substantial level and saw Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Masai Ujiri in the tunnel pregame on Sunday night having a drawn-out conversation. So there’s something potentially there. I’d wager the Warriors view that proposal — Kuminga, two firsts and a valuable expiring salary — as too steep. Paul’s contract is useful for them because they’re trying to duck the second apron this summer and Siakam, if acquired, would presumably be ticketed as an expensive part of their future.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors Updates

Siakam becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Teams like the Warriors have to be careful trading for the All-Star since he can leave in the offseason. Siakam will be looking for maximum money in free agency.

Siakam is averaging 22.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Raptors this season while shooting 52.5% from the floor, 30.8% from beyond the arc and 75.4% from the free-throw line. The 2019 NBA champion is making $37.9 million.

The Warriors are open to trading anyone on the roster except for Stephen Curry. Golden State is 17-20. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors Updates

Siakam has career averages of 17.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks. It remains conceivable that the Raptors sign Siakam to an extension if the trade market doesn’t work out in Toronto president Masai Ujiri’s favor.
