Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Issues Strong Statement On Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is in awe of San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.

After the Bucks beat the Spurs last night, Antetokounmpo talked about Wembanyama.

“He’s special,” Antetokounmpo said about Wembanyama. “He’s going to be an extremely good player. He plays the right way. He plays to win. I’ve never seen anything like him.”

Both Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama had strong games last night. Antetokounmpo finished with 44 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block, while Wembanyama put up 27 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal and five blocks.

“I’m trying to gain knowledge from as many great players as they are,” Wembanyama said. “Giannis is one of the players I’ve watched the most. The way he uses his body, he makes 100% of what he can do with his body. That’s something I look up to and I still look up to. It’s a player I know pretty well.”

The Bucks beat the Spurs by a final score of 125-121 to improve to 25-10 on the season. Meanwhile, the Spurs dropped to 5-29.

One of the best players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks this season while shooting 60.9% from the field, 23.7% from beyond the arc and 67.6% from the free-throw line. The Bucks legend has 26 double-doubles and three triple-doubles.

For the Spurs, Wembanyama is averaging 19.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.2 blocks while shooting 44.9% from the field, 29.1% from beyond the arc and 78.6% from the free-throw line. The 20-year-old leads the NBA in blocks per game.
