The New York Knicks are still interested in trading for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray even after acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
The Knicks traded RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the Raptors for Anunoby. New York believes Murray would be a great fit next to Jalen Brunson.
“The Knicks will continue to be active on the trade market, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote. “As previously reported by HoopsHype, the Knicks have been targeting Anunoby and Hawks guard Dejounte Murray. While losing Quickley seemingly hurts a potential trade package for Murray on paper, Murray remains a player the Knicks are interested in acquiring, league sources said.”
Murray is averaging 20.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Hawks this season while shooting 46.1% from the field, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 81.7% from the free-throw line.

The Hawks signed Murray to a four-year, $114 million extension in July. Murray is making $17.7 million this season. Atlanta acquired Murray from the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022.
Some prominent members of the Knicks see Murray as an ideal trade target, according to NBA insider Ian Begley of SNY. The Knicks had interest in trading for Murray in 2022.
The Hawks are expected to explore their trade options with Murray, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Atlanta is only 13-19 this season despite having Murray and Trae Young.

Murray has career averages of 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Spurs and Hawks. He has made one All-Star team and one All-Defensive team. Murray also won the 2021-22 steals title.
