Luka Doncic Won’t Play For Mavericks vs. Timberwolves

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic won’t play against the Minnesota Timberwolves today, per NBA insider Marc Stein.

Doncic is going to rest his left quad since the Mavericks played last night.

The Mavericks lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers last night by a final score of 113-110. Doncic finished with 39 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes while shooting 14-of-29 from the field, 3-of-10 from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

The Mavericks are 18-13 on the season. They are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings. Along with Doncic, Kyrie Irving will also miss the Timberwolves game. The All-Star point guard is still recovering from his foot injury.

Doncic is averaging 33.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists on the season while shooting 48.9% from the field, 38.4% from beyond the arc and 78.5% from the free-throw line. The four-time All-Star has 19 double-doubles and six triple-doubles.

Doncic is first in the NBA in total points, second in points per game, fourth in total assists, third in assists per game, second in field goals, second in 3-point field goals and fifth in player efficiency rating.

The Timberwolves game will be the third contest Doncic has missed this season. The Mavericks are 0-2 without Doncic. They lost to the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets without their leader.

A future Hall of Famer, Doncic has career averages of 28.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists with the Mavericks. Dallas is lucky it has another franchise player to build around in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era.
