The Boston Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown against the Detroit Pistons, per NBA reporter Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

Brown is dealing with a back injury. The Celtics star got kneed in the back by Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James on Christmas.

The Celtics don’t need Brown in the lineup to defeat the Pistons. Detroit is the worst team in the NBA. The club has lost 27 games in a row and is only 2-28 on the season.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics Updates

Brown is averaging 22.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists for the Celtics this season while shooting 47.8% from the field, 33.5% from beyond the arc and 73.4% from the free-throw line. The two-time All-Star is second on the team in points per game, sixth in rebounds per game and fourth in assists per game.

The Celtics have the best record in the NBA at 23-6. They look like a legitimate title contender with Brown, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis leading the way. Look for Boston to destroy Detroit tonight and rest its starters in the fourth quarter.

Back on December 7, Brown told Jay King of The Athletic that he believes he’s “playing the best basketball” of his life right now.

“I feel like on both sides of the ball, I’m playing the best basketball of my life,” Brown said. “I feel like I’m a different player. I still have the same essence. That aggressiveness is where my tone is always going to be, but I’m seeing the floor, making the right reads, trying to get others involved all at the same time.”

It will be fascinating to see if the Celtics can win the title this season. The team certainly has all the ingredients needed to win it all.
