The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to acquire Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, according to NBA insider Kurt Helin of NBC Sports.

LaVine and the Bulls are looking to part ways and LaVine wants to get traded to the Lakers. However, according to Helin, LaVine may not get his wish.

“The Lakers remain the name most often mentioned with LaVine, but sources have told NBC Sports that trade is unlikely,” Helin wrote.

LaVine has the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) as Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Paul told NBA reporter Sam Amick of The Athletic that he’s not trying to get LaVine to “one team.”

“It’s not one team,” Paul told Amick. “I don’t have a specific destination for Zach. I want what’s best for Zach and his family. When you have a guy playing the game, you want him to be able to play the game happy, whether that’s in Chicago or somewhere else.”

LaVine is averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season while shooting 44.3% from the field, 33.6% from 3 and 86.6% from the foul line. He hasn’t played since November 28 due to a right foot injury.

LaVine signed a five-year, $215 million contract with the Bulls in July 2022. He’s making $40 million this season. LaVine has career NBA averages of 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Bulls. He is a two-time Slam Dunk Contest champion and a two-time All-Star.

The Lakers are 16-15 on the season and only 2-6 since winning the NBA In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas. Along with LaVine, the Lakers have been linked to Bulls guards DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso and Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray.
