The Los Angeles Lakers could trade for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Murray has the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) as Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Hawks will explore their trade options with Murray, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Atlanta, despite having Murray and Trae Young, is only 12-17 this season.

“Multiple teams consulted in Orlando believe that the Hawks will explore their trade options with Dejounte Murray over the next six weeks leading up to the Feb. 8 trade deadline,” Stein wrote.

The Hawks signed Murray to a four-year, $114 million extension in July. The 27-year-old is making $17.7 million this season. Atlanta acquired Murray from the San Antonio Spurs in June 2022.

Murray is averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.0% from the floor, 38.2% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line. He’s one of the best two-way players in the NBA.

Murray and LeBron are very close friends. The Lakers, who are 16-15 on the season, are expected to make a trade before the trade deadline in February. They have been heavily linked to Chicago Bulls stars Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso.
