Some prominent members of the New York Knicks see Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray as an ideal trade target, according to NBA insider Ian Begley of SNY.

The Knicks had interest in trading for Murray in the 2022 offseason. However, Murray was traded by the San Antonio Spurs to the Hawks.

Atlanta signed Murray to a four-year, $114 million extension in July. The one-time All-Star is making $17.7 million this season.

Murray is averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks for the Hawks this season while shooting 46.0% from the field, 38.2% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

The Knicks view Murray as a great fit with Jalen Brunson. However, Murray is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group and Paul is reluctant to do business with the Knicks, who are led by president Leon Rose and executive vice president William Wesley.

Rose was a top agent at CAA before he took over the Knicks, while Wesley was a consultant for the agency before he joined Rose in New York.

The Knicks haven’t made a blockbuster trade since Rose was hired. They have been linked to Murray, Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell, Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns and Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid.
