Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons hasn’t played since November 6 due to a back injury and the former Philadelphia 76ers star told reporters on Friday that his injury has been very “frustrating.”

Simmons has only played in six games this season for the Nets.

“It’s probably one of the most frustrating points in my career just because I wanna be out there to help my team win and compete,” Simmons said. “But at the end of the day, it’s one of those things that’s a part of sports. Not every game’s promised. Injuries happen. Unfortunately, it happens. So for me, it’s just focusing on what I can do now and doing what I can to get back on the floor and contribute.”

Simmons is averaging 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists on the season while shooting 52.8% from the field. The three-time All-Star has no idea when he’ll play again.

“I have no expectations,” Simmons said. “I just come in every day and work. I think that’s one of the things about having injuries like this. I’ve known not to put too much pressure on the exact date or whatever it is. It’s just continue to get better and get to a point where you can play.”

The Nets are 13-15 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Simmons, who has suffered many injuries since entering the NBA, is doing everything he can to play again.

“For me, the recovery process is … I mean, it’s never fun,” Simmons said. “But it’s one of those things that I’ve just been locked into since having this injury and then every day, just trying to get better, get back on the floor.”
