Heat Land Wizards’ Jordan Poole In Bold Trade Proposal

Talented NBA players can fail. We’ve seen it happen countless times throughout history. No matter how talented a player is, he may fail if he doesn’t develop fundamentals and play correctly.

Will Jordan Poole of the Washington Wizards fail? It’s too early to say. Still, the outlook isn’t exactly optimistic. Poole was supposed to benefit from a change of scenery when he was moved from the Golden State Warriors. So far, he hasn’t reaped those benefits with the Wizards.

Whatever happens to Poole, it would benefit the Wizards to move him. This team is rebuilding, and they need assets more than they need to try to develop Poole.

Could they send him to the Miami Heat?

Washington Wizards Receive: G Kyle Lowry, 2027 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – MIA)

Miami Heat Receive: G Jordan Poole

Inversely, less talented players can succeed. We didn’t say “untalented players” – they don’t get a shot in the NBA. Still, a player can squeeze the most out of their natural talent with some hard work.

If they land on the Heat, they’ve got a better chance of doing that. This team is known for developing solid rotation players out of hardworking players who might be short on natural talent.

If you can shoot the basketball and are willing to work, the Heat will find a use for you.

That’s why it made sense when they acquired Lowry. He’s a player who got the absolute most out of his natural talent. With that said, his play has declined as he has aged.

Is it time for the Heat to move him?

Poole is a risk. We won’t deny that. He’s on a long-term contract. Meanwhile, questionable shot selection and decision-making have limited his success in the NBA so far.

At the same time, Poole is an immensely talented shot-maker. The payoff here could be enormous. Here, the Heat are gambling on their player development. They’re assuming that they can make a player out of Poole.

We wouldn’t rule it out. The Heat could use an injection of shot creation in their half-court. They also have enough playmaking between Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler to cover for Poole’s tunnel vision.

Should the Wizards risk watching Poole blossom elsewhere?

Perhaps Poole will turn his career around. It’s not likely to happen in Washington. This is one of the worst teams in the NBA. The Wizards are years away from even trying to play winning basketball.

With that in mind, they need assets. They’re landing one here. The Wizards shouldn’t expect more than a lottery protected first in exchange for Poole: this is fair value.

Moreover, bringing in Lowry has its benefits. He’s exactly the type of veteran influence that the Wizards should have around their young core.

More importantly, he’s on an expiring contract. That allows the Wizards some financial freedom – whether they use it to land talented players or not.
