The Utah Jazz are open to trading Jordan Clarkson, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Clarkson is making $23.5 million this season.

Clarkson is averaging 16.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season for the Jazz while shooting 39.9% from the field, 29.5% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line. He’s currently dealing with a thigh injury.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jordan Clarkson, Utah Jazz Updates

The Jazz are only 9-17 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings. Clarkson, one of the best scorers in the NBA, is better suited to play for a contender.

Clarkson has career averages of 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Jazz. It’s unknown at this time which teams are interested in trading for Clarkson, who signed a two-year, $28 million extension with Utah in July.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jordan Clarkson, Utah Jazz Updates

The Jazz are in rebuild mode. Most people around the NBA expect the veterans on Utah’s roster to be traded before the trade deadline in February. Clarkson, who won the 2020-21 Sixth Man of the Year Award, will likely be pursued by several contenders since he’s a proven scorer.

Back in April, Clarkson told Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports that he loves playing for the Jazz.

“I love Utah,” Clarkson told Deveney. “But I mean, it’s a business. I understand it. It is nothing for us to pack up and enjoy another experience anywhere, but the biggest thing for us is, you know, the love and support that I felt here. Utah, it has been amazing and that probably is the biggest thing that would have hurt just leaving because all the relationships and stuff that we built.”
