Report: Celtics, Mavericks, Thunder Have ‘Great’ Trade Interest In Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart

The Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder are interested in acquiring Isaiah Stewart from the Detroit Pistons, according to NBA insider James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.

Stewart is averaging 10.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists this season while shooting 45.5% from the field, 36.7% from beyond the arc and 78.6% from the free-throw line.

The Pistons signed Stewart to a four-year, $60 million extension in July. The extension kicks in next season. Stewart is making $5.3 million this season. He’ll make $15 million in 2024-25.

At 2-24, the Pistons have the worst record in the NBA. They have lost 23 games in a row. Their last win came against the Chicago Bulls on October 28.

Stewart has career averages of 9.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists with the Pistons. He was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Washington. The Blazers traded Stewart to the Houston Rockets, who then sent the big man to the Pistons.

Detroit is expected to be active in trade discussions leading up to the February trade deadline. The Pistons have been linked to Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby and Philadelphia 76ers swingman Tobias Harris. The Utah Jazz are looking to trade power forward John Collins, but the Pistons are not interested in acquiring him.

It will certainly be interesting to see what the Pistons do with Stewart. The 22-year-old is currently dealing with a shoulder injury.
