During the first quarter of Friday night’s game against the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal suffered a right ankle injury and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game. It continues a trend of back injury luck for him throughout the 2023-24 NBA season.

This injury is another setback for the Suns’ highly anticipated NBA All-Star lineup featuring Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Beal. Remarkably, this trio has only managed to play one other game together this season, during a recent loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The incident occurred as Beal attempted a 3-pointer, which he successfully made. However, he inadvertently landed on the foot of Knicks player Donte DiVincenzo, who was penalized with a Flagrant 1 foul for not giving Beal adequate space to land safely.

Following the incident, Beal appeared to be in considerable pain on the court and spent a few minutes there before bravely standing up to make his free throw. He then proceeded to the locker room.

Beal, a three-time All-Star, has been battling a sore back for the last two months, limiting his participation this season to just six games. His teammates, Durant and Booker, have also been sidelined at various times during the season due to injuries.

Before exiting the game due to his ankle injury, Beal had scored six points against the Knicks. The Suns once again were unable to gain an extended look at the superstar trio they shocked the NBA by forming during the offseason using a trade with the Washington Wizards.

The Suns return to action on Sunday when they host Beal’s former team. It remains to be seen what his status will be for the game before determining his potential availability.
