Giants Slapped With Bad News in Potential WR Trade

The New York Giants have positioned themselves at the top of the NFC East early in the 2026 season, yet the offense still lacks reliable depth at wide receiver beyond standout Malik Nabers.

Tight end Isaiah Likely has filled a significant role in the passing game, but the complementary options outside have not consistently produced, leaving the group thinner than ideal for a team with playoff aspirations.

Adding a proven veteran who can stretch the field and create mismatches has remained a logical priority as the November 10 trade deadline approaches, particularly with the division remaining competitive.

That search grew more complicated this week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.

Sources told the pair that Jerry Jeudy’s chances of being traded have become less likely. The Cleveland Browns sit atop the AFC North with a surprising 4-2 record, and Jeudy contributed a clutch 33-yard catch-and-run in their recent victory while maintaining a positive attitude even as rookies KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston have emerged.

The Browns are not shopping the receiver, and any deal would require premium compensation even if general manager Andrew Berry remains open to discussing offers. As of now, a trade appears unlikely.

For the Giants, the development removes one of the more frequently discussed external options.

Multiple reports in recent weeks had linked New York to Jeudy, noting both the team’s need for a second receiver and the veteran’s prior familiarity with Jameis Winston from their shared time in Cleveland.

Analysts had pointed to that rapport, along with Jeudy’s track record of production when healthy, as reasons the Giants might pursue him to upgrade the depth chart behind Nabers and give the offense another proven target.

With the Browns unwilling to move him at a reasonable cost, the Giants must turn elsewhere if they still want to bolster the position before the deadline.

The window for acquiring a high-upside veteran who can contribute immediately is narrowing, and internal options such as Darnell Mooney and rookie Malachi Fields have yet to consistently separate themselves as reliable complements.

A thin receiver room could become a larger issue if injuries arise or if opposing defenses continue to focus heavily on Nabers and Likely.

The Giants’ strong start has created a window to strengthen the roster for a potential postseason run, but the diminishing likelihood of a Jeudy acquisition underscores the difficulty of finding the right fit on the open market.

General manager Joe Schoen and the front office will need to evaluate other available targets or commit fully to developing what is already on the roster as the deadline nears.
