Former Ole Miss lineman Nick Broeker is off the Buffalo Bills practice squad again.
The Bills released Broeker from the practice squad Monday as part of a flurry of transactions that added fullback Brock Lampe, receiver Greg Dortch and running back Frank Gore Jr., via the NFL transaction log.
It is another stop on a professional path that has taken the Springfield, Illinois, native from Oxford to Houston, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Kansas City and back to Buffalo more than once.
Broeker remains one of the more durable products of recent Ole Miss offensive lines.
From 2019 through 2022, he never missed a game, appearing in all 48 contests and starting his final three seasons. He spent most of his career at left tackle before sliding inside to left guard as a senior, a move designed to prepare him for the NFL.
In 2022, he earned second-team All-SEC honors and the Kent Hull Trophy as the top offensive lineman in Mississippi. That résumé made him a seventh-round pick, 230th overall, by the Bills in the 2023 draft.
The NFL has been less settled. Buffalo waived him at the end of his rookie camp. Houston claimed him, and Broeker spent two seasons there, appearing in 12 games with limited offensive snaps and more work on special teams.
After the Texans let him go in 2025, he bounced from the Steelers to the Cowboys, then back to Buffalo’s practice squad, then Kansas City’s, then a reserve/futures deal with the Bills again.
He was waived in final cuts this August and re-signed to the practice squad the next day — only to be released again Monday.
For Rebel fans, the story is familiar: a four-year starter who showed up every Saturday in Oxford now fighting for the last spots on NFL depth charts.
Broeker’s versatility — tackle and guard — and his reputation as a reliable camp body have kept him employed, but the 53-man roster has remained just out of reach. At 25, he is still young enough that another team could see value in a former All-SEC lineman who has already learned multiple systems.
What comes next is the same question that has followed him since he left the Grove: another practice-squad call, a workout, or a short window of free agency.
Ole Miss has sent plenty of linemen into that grind. Broeker’s college tape still shows why scouts liked him — toughness, availability, and the willingness to move inside when the program asked.
Those traits have not produced a long-term home yet. They have, however, kept a former Rebel in the league four years after he last lined up in Vaught-Hemingway.
Monday’s waiver is not the end of the line. For a player who never missed a college snap, it is simply the latest roster transaction in a career built on staying ready.
