Former LSU Tigers defensive end BJ Ojulari has a new NFL home.

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Wednesday that they have signed the 24-year-old pass rusher to their practice squad, filling an edge-depth hole after placing defensive end B.J. Green II on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Jacksonville also promoted linebacker Jack Kiser from the practice squad to the active roster.

For Tigers fans, the move is a reminder of how quickly a college star’s path can twist — and why Ojulari’s LSU years still matter.

Ojulari played three seasons in Baton Rouge from 2020 to 2022. He finished with 129 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two passes defensed in 34 games (24 starts).

In 2022, he earned first-team All-SEC honors, the kind of production that made him a second-round pick — 41st overall — by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Arizona got an immediate return. As a rookie he played all 17 games and posted 4.0 sacks, the most by a Cardinals rookie since 2016, plus 40 tackles. Then injuries took over.

A torn ACL in August 2024 wiped out that season. He started 2025 on the physically unable to perform list, returned in mid-November, and played eight games with nine tackles and a sack.

The Cardinals waived him on Aug. 30, 2026, after training camp. Career NFL totals through 2025: 49 tackles, 5.0 sacks and one pass deflection in 25 games.

Jacksonville is betting the Marietta, Georgia, product still has the burst that made him a Tiger disruptor. At 6-foot-2 and 248 pounds, Ojulari gives the Jaguars a young, experienced body behind Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker after a strong Week 1 defensive showing.

Practice-squad status is not a finished product; it is a chance to earn elevations and, if healthy, a 53-man spot. He is still only 24 and in the final year of his original rookie contract timeline.

LSU’s defensive-end pipeline has sent plenty of players into the league. Ojulari’s story is familiar: early production, a mid-round draft slot, then the grind of injuries and roster math.

The Jaguars visit is a fresh start in a new scheme, closer to the Southeast than Phoenix ever was.

Tigers supporters will watch to see whether the first-step quickness and motor from Death Valley still show up on Sundays.

For now, Ojulari is back on an NFL roster — and still carrying the LSU stamp that got him there.
