Eagles Could Make Bold Move With Popular Trade Candidate

The Philadelphia Eagles have rebuffed trade interest in defensive tackle Moro Ojomo and appear intent on keeping the former seventh-round pick long-term, according to reporting from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

The Eagles sit at 2-6 with a six-game losing streak heading into the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10. Philadelphia is widely viewed as a potential seller, but Ojomo is not among the players the front office has made available.

Breer wrote that other defensive tackles have drawn attention around the league.

“Washington’s Daron Payne was drawing interest before he got hurt. Obviously that’s off the table now. Grover Stewart’s an option, with the Saints’ Davon Godchaux and Nathan Shepherd, Patriots’ Christian Barmore and Panthers’ Bobby Brown III others who’ve come up in trade talks. To this point, the Eagles have said no to teams on Moro Ojomo (more on him in a bit), and the Dolphins have done the same with Zach Sieler.”

Breer later detailed the Eagles’ stance on Ojomo specifically.

“The Eagles’ six-game losing streak obviously opens up the possibility that they’d move some contract-year vets, and Hollywood Brown, Riq Woolen, Dallas Goedert, Michael Carter II and now Tanner McKee are among those perceived by other teams to be available. Ojomo, also in a contract year, is a different story. In fact, Howie Roseman has given other teams the impression that he’ll try to sign Ojomo, who’s gotten very strong interest, long term, despite the fact that he’s already got DTs Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis on big second deals.”

Through eight games, Ojomo has recorded 21 tackles, three tackles for loss, 18 pressures, 14 hurries and four quarterback hits without a sack. Pro Football Focus graded him at 57.6 overall, ranking him 73rd among 128 defensive tackles. His pass-rush grade of 56.5 ranked 96th and his run-defense grade of 57.1 ranked 56th.

Ojomo, a 25-year-old native of Nigeria, was selected 249th overall out of Texas in the 2023 draft. He has developed into a rotational starter after limited early snaps, appearing in all 17 games last season with six sacks and 38 tackles.

Teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings have inquired about him. The Eagles already extended Jalen Carter on a four-year deal worth $152 million and Jordan Davis on a three-year deal worth $78 million.

Ojomo has expressed a preference to stay in Philadelphia. “If we could make it work, I love playing for the city,” he told The Athletic’s Zach Berman.

Philadelphia faces a tight timeline. If the Eagles do not reach a long-term agreement before the season ends, Ojomo can test free agency in March. The team has indicated to other clubs that it intends to pursue a new deal rather than move him for draft capital at the deadline.

Other contract-year players such as wide receiver Hollywood Brown, cornerback Riq Woolen and tight end Dallas Goedert remain viewed as more available. Running back Saquon Barkley has already been told he will not be traded.

The Eagles’ defensive line has been a relative bright spot amid broader struggles that include the loss of quarterback Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season. Ojomo’s continued presence would keep a productive interior presence alongside Carter and Davis.

Interest from contenders has not altered Philadelphia’s public posture. Breer’s reporting indicates general manager Howie Roseman has conveyed that Ojomo is a priority to retain rather than a trade chip.

The deadline arrives with the Eagles at the bottom of the NFC East. Any decision on Ojomo will shape both the remainder of 2026 and the defensive line’s outlook for 2027 and beyond.
