Angel Reese posted 21 points and 13 rebounds for her 19th double-double of the season Friday night, powering the Atlanta Dream to a 98-89 victory over the Seattle Storm and extending their winning streak to five games.
Reese also grabbed six offensive rebounds, pushing her season total to 137 and establishing a new franchise mark for the most offensive boards by a Dream player in a single season. She surpassed the previous high of 136 set by teammate Brionna Jones, accomplishing the feat in only 27 games.
Naz Hillmon contributed 18 points for Atlanta (18-10), while Allisha Gray finished with 16. Jones added 14 points off the bench, and Jordin Canada registered 10 points along with nine assists. Rhyne Howard was limited to nine points on 3-of-13 shooting.
Natisha Hiedeman paced Seattle (6-25) with 23 points. Dominique Malonga recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Ezi Magbegor scored 12 points in a reserve role. Flau’jae Johnson struggled from the field, connecting on just 2 of 11 attempts.
Atlanta held an 87-74 advantage with 3:53 remaining in the fourth quarter before the Storm mounted a 10-2 surge. Seattle closed the gap to 92-88 with 43.4 seconds left, but Gray converted a pair of free throws to secure the outcome.
The Storm have now dropped eight consecutive contests. They travel to face New York on Monday night, while the Dream host Las Vegas that same evening.
Following the game, the Dream took to social media to announce some major news about Reese.
“In just 27 games, Angel Reese has set a new record for most offensive rebounds by a Dream player in a season. The previous record was held by fellow All Star teammate, Bri Jones at 136 (2025). Reese currently holds the WNBA record for most in a season with 172 (2024),” the post read.
Reese highlighted the versatility of Atlanta’s frontcourt as a key factor in the win.
“There’s just so many different weapons from all three of us, and also Medina as well, where we can score from so many different places,” Reese said. “We know when Bri’s in with the advantage, and we try to get it to her inside.”
Hillmon pointed to the team’s ability to respond when the margin tightened.
“We can turn things around,” she said. “There was a point in the game where it might have got to like four points, and we were able to pick it back up and stretch it back out to 10.”
Dream coach Karl Smesko noted progress in Reese’s outside shooting after she went 2-of-5 from three-point range.
“She’s been working on it a long time, and it’s starting to get more comfortable,” Smesko said. “At the All-Star break, she said she felt like for the first time it was comfortable, and that she was going to be shooting it a lot better. She has a lot of confidence in it right now.”
Smesko also assessed the club’s overall trajectory following the latest victory.
“We have the makings of a great team,” he said. “I don’t think we’re all the way there yet. But there are stretches where we’re as good as anybody.”
The performance continued Reese’s strong campaign since joining Atlanta in an offseason trade. She has steadily climbed the franchise record books while helping the Dream maintain momentum through a challenging stretch of the schedule.
Gateway Center Arena remained energetic throughout as Atlanta controlled the glass and converted second-chance opportunities. Reese’s relentless work on the offensive boards repeatedly extended possessions and frustrated Seattle’s defensive efforts.
With the streak intact and key contributors producing across the roster, the Dream head into the next matchup looking to build further consistency. The combination of interior depth and improved perimeter confidence has given the team multiple avenues to generate offense in recent outings.
