The Los Angeles Dodgers head into Friday’s series against the Miami Marlins with momentum after consecutive sweeps of the Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds.

While the big-league club looks to keep rolling, the organization also made a quieter but meaningful move in the minors, promoting 22-year-old outfielder Agustin Acosta from the Arizona Complex League Dodgers to Double-A Tulsa.

The assignment, logged on MiLB’s transaction list, is the first time Acosta will play at the Double-A level. A left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing center fielder listed at 6-foot-2 and 173 pounds, he signed with Los Angeles as an amateur free agent in February 2022 out of Culiacán, Mexico.

Most of his professional career has been spent in the Dominican Summer League and the complex league, so the jump to Tulsa represents a genuine test of whether his tools travel against older, more polished pitching.

This season he appeared in 21 games for the ACL Dodgers and hit .262 with three home runs, five doubles, and 14 RBI. The sample was interrupted by a stint on the seven-day injured list in May and June, yet he still earned ACL Player of the Week honors in early July.

His on-base percentage sat at .351 and his slugging at .477, numbers that echo a patient approach he has shown throughout the lower minors. Across his career he has posted a .261 average with 13 home runs and 79 RBI in 151 games, plus a career on-base percentage that has regularly exceeded .400 when he has stayed healthy and drawn walks.

The 2025 Dominican Summer League campaign was his strongest to date, a .327/.473/.564 line that hinted at growing extra-base power and continued plate discipline.

Those traits, combined with usable speed, are why the Dodgers are willing to skip him over High-A and see how he handles Double-A at the end of the year.

Tulsa already houses several of the organization’s more prominent outfield prospects, so Acosta will have to earn at-bats rather than simply inherit them.

For a player who has spent five seasons working his way through the lowest rungs of the system, the promotion is both a reward and a challenge.

The Dodgers’ major-league roster is crowded and currently dealing with other injury-related roster shuffling, so Acosta is not on the verge of a big-league look. He is, however, now in position to show whether the contact, patience, and occasional power that stood out in rookie ball can survive a higher level.

How he finishes the year in Tulsa will determine whether this late-season move is remembered as a routine depth assignment or the start of a more noticeable climb.
