The Detroit Pistons completed a routine but necessary piece of roster housekeeping over the weekend by waiving forward John Ukomadu and swingman Brice Williams, via the NBA transaction log.

Both players had been signed to Exhibit 10 contracts for training camp.

Because the cuts occurred before the regular season, the players will clear waivers on Monday and the organization will not carry any residual salary against its books.

With those moves finished, Detroit now holds a full complement of 15 players on standard contracts plus the maximum three two-way deals, placing the roster in full compliance for opening night.

Ukomadu, a 6-foot-7 forward and Southfield, Michigan native, arrived in camp after two productive seasons with the Motor City Cruise.

The undrafted Eastern Kentucky product had followed a winding college path through Vincennes University and Macomb Community College before finishing at EKU, where he also finished as runner-up in the 2024 College Slam Dunk Championship.

In the G League, he developed into a versatile wing who could space the floor and defend multiple positions; recent averages hovered around 10.5 points and 4.1 rebounds while he also contributed to the G League United squad that captured the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

Limited preseason minutes with the Pistons produced only modest scoring, but the organization already holds his G League rights, making a return to Grand Rapids the expected next step.

Williams took a different route to the same outcome.

After a breakout final collegiate season at Nebraska—where the Charlotte transfer averaged 20.4 points, earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, and set the school’s single-season scoring record—he went undrafted in 2025 and spent the following year with the Cruise.

The 6-foot-5 wing, son of former NBA player Henry Williams, continued to display scoring punch and three-point range in the developmental league before receiving another Exhibit 10 look this fall.

Like Ukomadu, he saw only brief preseason action and is likewise projected to rejoin Detroit’s affiliate once the waiver process concludes.

These transactions illustrate the practical role Exhibit 10 deals play for teams that already possess a complete standard roster and filled two-way slots.

They give promising G League players a brief NBA camp exposure while preserving the club’s rights and avoiding any long-term financial obligation.

For Ukomadu and Williams, the immediate future almost certainly resides in Grand Rapids, where continued production can still position either for a later call-up or a two-way opportunity should an opening arise during the season.
