As the Denver Nuggets prepare for the offseason, who is their dream free agent target this summer?

It was a very disappointing season for the defending NBA Champions in 2023-24. The Nuggets came in with pretty much the same roster from when they won the championship but came up short in the playoffs.

After being eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves shockingly, the Denver Nuggets’ offseason started much earlier than expected. With not a lot of cap space, the Nuggets are going to be looking for minor pieces in free agency to help hopefully bolster their bench.

Recently, Bleacher Report spoke about who their dream free agent target would be. On their list, they had Andre Drummond as the dream free agent for the Nuggets. Here’s what they had to say.

The Denver Nuggets will always be looking for centers who can play spot minutes behind Nikola Jokić and not get blown off the floor. Andre Drummond and Jokić are completely different players, but Drummond might be the best that Denver can afford with only veteran-minimum contracts to offer.

Adding a backup center for the Nuggets does appear to be priority No.1 for them. While Nikola Jokic is one of the best players on the planet right now, he can’t play 48 minutes a night. As we saw in the playoffs when Jokic needed rest, the team struggled.

While Drummond isn’t the same offensive player as Jokic, he can run a very nice pick-and-roll game with the ability to finish above the rim. On the defensive side of the court, Drummond is an excellent rebounder and rim protector, which will help on that end.

Since the salary cap is tight for the Denver Nuggets, they will need to get players on veteran deals. For a guy like Drummond, coming to play for a team that can compete for an NBA Title should be very appealing.
