Deion Sanders Sends Message to Shedeur After Browns QB Update

Deion Sanders spends time with his son, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (2) at the conclusion of the second day of training camp, July 30, 2026, in Berea, Ohio.

In the midst of an unexpectedly turbulent stretch in his first NFL training camp, Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders chose not to dwell on the day’s developments when he posted to Instagram.

Instead of addressing the sudden shift in practice reps that left him working behind Deshaun Watson, Sanders shared a series of polished photos of himself out for the evening in a sharp Gucci jacket.

The caption was characteristically brief, just his familiar “$²” signature, offering no direct comment on the quarterback competition unfolding in Berea.

The post drew an immediate wave of attention, and among the earliest and most notable responses was one from his father.

Deion Sanders, Shedeur’s father who is also a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado head coach, simply wrote, “Stunting Like Yo Daddy!”

The playful, supportive note carried the unmistakable tone of a parent who has long encouraged his son to move with confidence regardless of external noise. It arrived at a moment when questions about Shedeur’s standing on the depth chart had grown louder.

Earlier that Saturday, the Browns had appeared set to continue their established rotation. Head coach Todd Monken had indicated that Sanders would take the first-team snaps after Watson had worked with the starters the previous day.

Yet when practice began, Watson remained with the top unit and opened multiple competitive periods. A team spokesperson later explained that Monken wanted to evaluate certain personnel groupings with the veteran, but the change marked the clearest departure yet from the previously announced plan.

Compounding the concern, second-year quarterback Dillon Gabriel also saw significant work with the second team, raising the possibility that Sanders had slipped further down the order.

Monken has maintained that the competition remains open and that both Watson and Sanders should see meaningful opportunities in the preseason, with a decision on the Week 1 preseason starter expected soon.

Watson, returning from a long recovery from Achilles injuries, has shown flashes of command that have positioned him as the early favorite. Sanders, the highly drafted rookie, has faced the steeper learning curve that comes with adjusting to the speed and complexity of the NFL.

Against that backdrop, Deion’s Instagram comment stood out less as analysis of the depth chart and more as a quiet reminder of the mindset the Sanders family has long projected.

While the Browns sort through their quarterback situation in real time, Shedeur’s social media post and his father’s reply suggested a deliberate choice to keep the focus on presence and poise rather than public reaction to a single practice.
