The Dallas Stars have placed forward Harrison Scott on waivers, according to a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The 26-year-old began the 2026-27 campaign on the team’s season-opening injured reserve list after suffering an undisclosed injury during the preseason.

With Scott now healthy enough to return to the ice, Dallas has made him available to the rest of the league ahead of a potential assignment to the American Hockey League.

Scott is entering his third season in the Stars organization after signing as an undrafted collegiate free agent late in the 2024-25 campaign.

The San Jose, California, native began his NCAA career at Bentley University before transferring to the University of Maine for his junior and senior seasons.

Over those two years with the Black Bears, he produced 33 goals and 62 points in 75 games while posting a plus-19 rating. His senior year proved especially productive, as he led Maine in scoring with 18 goals and 35 points in 38 contests.

His professional transition was not seamless. After signing with Dallas, Scott went scoreless across six games with the AHL’s Texas Stars to close out the 2024-25 season, finishing with a minus-6 rating.

He looked far more comfortable in his first full professional year.

Scott recorded 18 goals and 32 points in 72 games during the 2025-26 campaign while posting a minus-3 rating, establishing himself as a reliable secondary contributor for Texas. He did not register a point in five postseason games.

Assuming Scott clears waivers within the next 24 hours, he will rejoin the Texas Stars and attempt to build on last year’s production. The AHL club has started slowly, sitting at 1-2-0-1 with a minus-6 goal differential.

While Scott still carries some defensive shortcomings, his offensive touch should help elevate Texas’s scoring output over the remainder of the 2026-27 season as he continues his development within the organization.

The move keeps Scott under Dallas’s control for the time being.

He signed a two-year, two-way contract extension in June 2026 that runs through the 2027-28 season, reflecting the club’s interest in retaining him as depth after a solid rookie campaign in the AHL.

If he clears, the focus will shift to whether he can take another step forward and position himself for potential NHL consideration down the line.
