The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of reshaping their defensive line this offseason, but a recent disciplinary action has added an early complication.

Free agent edge rusher Charles Snowden has been handed a three-game suspension by the NFL for the start of the regular season.

According to reports from league insiders, the suspension stems from a personal conduct violation tied to Snowden’s December 2024 arrest for driving under the influence in Las Vegas. He later pleaded no contest to the charge in January 2026.

The timing is particularly inconvenient for Dallas, as the team had recently brought Snowden aboard on a one-year, $1.075 million contract signed in mid-June, viewing him as a potential contributor to their revamped pass rush.

Fortunately for the Cowboys and Snowden himself, the penalty allows full participation in all preseason activities and games.

The suspension will only kick in once teams trim their rosters down to 53 players, meaning he can still build chemistry with teammates and showcase his abilities during the exhibition slate.

Snowden, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Virginia in 2022. He spent his early career developing with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he earned increased responsibility in recent seasons.

Over the last two years, he started nine games in each campaign, recording 67 combined tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and 11 quarterback hits. His size and athleticism give him the tools to pressure opposing passers, though consistency has been an area of ongoing growth.

For the Cowboys, this situation represents another test in their efforts to fortify the defense. While the suspension creates a short-term absence, it also provides an opportunity for other young edge players to step up during the first three weeks.
