Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed readiness Tuesday to sacrifice upcoming draft selections in pursuit of immediate roster upgrades aimed at contending for a Super Bowl title this season.

Jones shared his views with members of the media while the team conducted training camp activities in California.

He made clear his openness to bolstering the current roster through trades involving future resources.

“Candidly, I’d be very interested,” Jones said. “I’d give up future [assets] to add substantive [talent] to where we are today as to a player, to give you an idea about what I invest. Something substantive to get the right kind of deal to improve us opening day. I would. I feel that good about this team, this year.”

The comments came as the franchise prepares for the upcoming NFL campaign under high expectations.

Jones noted that evaluations remain preliminary since the full group has yet to take the field in games.

“Of course, you know that I haven’t seen this team play together, but in general, looking ahead, I think we’ve got a chance to be worthy of spending some future if we saw an opportunity,” he said.

At 83 years old, Jones faces personal timelines that could influence his approach to team building. This season also coincides with three decades since the Cowboys last claimed an NFL championship in Super Bowl XXX.

The organization enjoyed a stretch of three titles across four seasons during the 1990s before entering an extended stretch of inconsistent results.

Key contributors on the current roster include quarterback Dak Prescott, who continues to age while seeking deeper playoff success. His primary targets, receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, form one of the league’s stronger pass-catching combinations.

Those elements appear to factor into the owner’s sense of urgency regarding potential transactions.

Jones underscored his preference for aggressive moves now rather than postponing ambitions.

“Let me just say this: There’s no way that I would do anything that would delay until next year or the next year to try to get to a Super Bowl this year,” Jones said. “I feel that good about what we’re starting with.”

The remarks signal a possible shift toward prioritizing present contention over long-term draft capital accumulation.

Observers will monitor whether the Cowboys pursue significant additions before the regular season begins.

Such a strategy could reshape the team’s outlook in a competitive NFC landscape.

Jones has long maintained hands-on involvement in personnel decisions throughout his ownership tenure. His latest comments suggest confidence in the foundation already in place for 2026.

Whether concrete deals materialize remains to be determined as camp progresses and roster evaluations continue.
