Jerry Jones has never been one to sit still when his Dallas Cowboys look incomplete. After adding cornerback Joey Porter Jr. in a recent deal, the owner appears ready to keep hunting for impact players on defense.

According to reporting from CBS Sports, that search could lead him straight to Maxx Crosby and the suddenly sliding Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders opened the season with an unexpected 3-0 start, only to lose three straight and drop back into the pack. That slide has renewed talk that Las Vegas will act as a seller before the trade deadline while it continues building around rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Crosby, the team’s standout edge rusher, has long been viewed as one of the most valuable pieces available if the Raiders decide to listen.

Dallas has been mentioned as a logical landing spot for months, and Jones’ willingness to make bold moves only strengthens the connection.

The Cowboys’ pass rush has been a clear weakness since Parsons left. While Porter Jr. addresses a need on the back end, the front remains thin. Crosby would immediately change that calculation.

A relentless, high-motor defender who consistently pressures the quarterback, he would give Dallas a proven edge presence capable of altering games on his own.

For an owner who has never shied away from marquee transactions, acquiring Crosby would represent the kind of splash that has defined Jones’ tenure in Dallas.

Crosby’s own recent comments only add context. After the Raiders’ latest loss, a 33-30 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, he pointed to second-half struggles and the need for the team to improve its ability to close games.

That frustration arrives at a moment when Las Vegas must decide whether to push forward with its current roster or reset around younger talent.

A motivated Crosby in Dallas would face fewer such questions; the Cowboys’ recent activity suggests they are actively trying to fortify a defense that still needs help in key spots.

Whether the two sides can actually strike a deal remains uncertain. Crosby is under contract, the Raiders have previously walked away from trade talks involving him, and the price would almost certainly be steep.

Yet Jones has shown time and again that he is willing to meet high demands when he believes a player can move the needle.

With the deadline approaching and Dallas still searching for answers on the edge, Crosby stands out as the kind of addition that would signal the Cowboys are not finished making moves.

For a franchise that thrives on big personalities and bigger headlines, few available defenders would fit the profile better.
