The seventh-round pick, selected 226th overall in the 2026 draft, arrived at Paycor Stadium on Sunday wearing his Navy Service Dress uniform, a striking choice that immediately circulated across social media and earned praise from league accounts, reporters, and fellow players.
Robinson, a former Navy football standout, walked through the players’ tunnel in the formal military attire rather than standard team gear. Local reporter Noelle Blumel captured the moment and called it arguably the best pregame outfit of the day.
The visual celebration, however, was quickly followed by a more ordinary football reality. When the Bengals released their inactive list for the Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Robinson’s name was on it.
Fans expressed disappointment, with one posting that the team could not leave him off the field after such an entrance. The decision was not entirely surprising.
Cincinnati’s interior defensive line is now anchored by high-profile veterans Dexter Lawrence and Jonathan Allen, leaving limited snaps for younger players in the first game of the season. Other recent draft picks also sat out as the coaching staff settled on its opening-day rotation.
Robinson had given the organization reasons to keep him. During the preseason he consistently outplayed other interior linemen competing for the same spots and showed versatility that coaches value.
He has even lined up as a fullback in short-yardage and goal-line situations, a role reminiscent of how the Bengals once used veteran Domata Peko.
That kind of two-way utility can keep a late-round player on the roster even when he is not in the starting lineup.
The contrast between the morning’s stylish arrival and the afternoon’s inactive designation created a bittersweet first NFL Sunday for the Navy alum.
He will have another chance next week when Cincinnati travels to face the Houston Texans.
For a player who already demonstrated he understands how to make an impression, the next opportunity to take the field will be the one that matters most.
