The Buffalo Bills have spent the 2024 NFL offseason remaking their wide receiver depth chart. Gone are their top two receivers from the last few seasons, Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans, while Davis signed a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency.

That created a massive void atop the team’s depth chart, which they have been filling methodically. In free agency, the team signed Curtis Samuel, who when healthy has been a valuable weapon for his teams.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected Florida State star Keon Coleman with the No. 33 overall pick. Coleman has all of the tools to become a dominant go-to No. 1 receiver at the next level.

On Tuesday, the team made another addition at wide receiver. As shared by ESPN, the Buffalo Bills have signed veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling. According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, it is a one-year deal worth up to $4.5 million. It also includes a $1.125 million signing bonus, which is pretty good money for a veteran free agent at this point in the offseason.

Valdes-Scantling hit the free agent market back in February when the Kansas City Chiefs released him. It was a necessary move by Kansas City, as the move saved the team $12 million on the salary cap.

In two seasons with the Chiefs, Valdes-Scantling appeared in 33 games, catching 62 passes for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns. He stepped up in the postseason, playing in seven games and catching 15 passes for 250 yards and three scores, en route to two Super Bowl rings.

Valdes-Scantling will bring some more size to the Buffalo Bills’ receiving group, standing 6’4’. He is also an excellent downfield threat, as he should pair well with the strong arm of Josh Allen. In his career, Valdes-Scantling averages 17 yards per reception.
