The Buffalo Bills added experienced cornerback depth on Thursday, announcing they had signed Kader Kohou to their practice squad.

The move comes just days after the Kansas City Chiefs released the 27-year-old defensive back from their own practice squad, giving Buffalo a familiar AFC East face who spent the first three seasons of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Kohou entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M-Commerce in 2022. He quickly carved out a role in Miami’s secondary, appearing in 47 games and starting 38 of them between 2022 and 2024.

Over that span he recorded 180 combined tackles, 28 passes defended, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a sack.

His most productive season came in 2024, when he played in 15 games, made 45 tackles, defended eight passes and picked off two passes.

After the Dolphins re-signed him as a restricted free agent, Kohou suffered a torn ACL in training camp in July 2025 and missed the entire season.

He signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs in March 2026, but he did not survive final roster cuts. Kansas City brought him back on the practice squad before releasing him earlier this week.

Buffalo’s secondary has been in flux, and Kohou gives the team a veteran option who has primarily lined up in the nickel role.

He replaces Te’Cory Couch on the practice squad after Couch was promoted to the active roster.

The Bills, sitting at 6-1 and preparing for a Monday night road game against the also 6-1 Minnesota Vikings, have made a series of defensive-back transactions in recent weeks as they try to stabilize the unit.

Because Kohou has not played a regular-season snap since the end of the 2024 campaign, he will need time to get fully up to speed.

Still, his three years of starting experience against the Bills’ division rivals and his familiarity with nickel duties make him a logical depth piece.

If he shows he has regained his pre-injury form in practice, Buffalo can elevate him for a game or two under the standard practice-squad elevation rules.

For a contending team looking for short-term secondary insurance, the signing is a low-risk way to add a player who already knows the AFC East landscape.
