Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy could be heading elsewhere as NFL clubs get ready to cut their rosters down to 53 players.
Jeudy currently ranks first on the team’s depth chart at the position. His future with the franchise is still being talked about as the deadline draws closer.
CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo recently named the former Pro Bowl player among veterans who might be dealt before teams finalize their 53-man groups.
The Browns used the 24th overall pick on KC Concepcion and the 39th selection on Denzel Boston. Both rookies have made strong impressions in camp and the preseason.
That added youth at the position could give general manager Andrew Berry room to consider a trade if the right offer comes in for Jeudy.
DeArdo said it is hard to know exactly what Cleveland would want in return. He pointed to Jeudy’s age, earlier production and chance to bounce back from a down year as reasons another team might get involved.
“Still just 27, Jeudy’s past success and potential moving forward could compel a team to make Berry an offer he can’t refuse,” DeArdo wrote.
Nothing so far suggests the Browns are actively trying to move Jeudy. Any trade would have to be a strong one given the role he is expected to play.
The receiving corps looks different this season as the organization continues to add younger pieces and plan ahead.
Cleveland acquired Jeudy from the Denver Broncos in March 2024 in exchange for fifth- and sixth-round draft choices. The team followed that up by signing him to a three-year extension.
Jeudy then turned in the best season of his career in 2024. He caught 90 passes for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns, setting a single-season franchise record for receptions. He also piled up 235 yards in a game against his former Denver team.
He could not match that production in 2025. Jeudy ended the year with 50 catches for 602 yards and two touchdowns while the passing attack dealt with ongoing quarterback issues.
Even after using high draft picks on two wide receivers, the Browns continued to describe Jeudy as a central part of their plans.
“He’s our bell cow,” Berry said. “With receiver rooms, you can have maybe a ball-dominant player, or you can essentially build a basketball team with different skill sets. We prefer the second approach.”
The Browns have already made one notable change at the position by releasing Cedric Tillman, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Tillman was entering the last year of his rookie contract and will be subject to waivers.
Cleveland selected Tillman in the third round of the 2023 draft, hoping his size and ability to win contested catches would develop into starting-caliber play. He finished his time with the team with 71 receptions for 833 yards and five touchdowns in 38 games. He started 19 contests but missed 10 games over his last two seasons because of injuries.
Trading Jeudy would be a much bigger decision. He remains the most accomplished receiver on the roster and an important piece for an offense that still has questions at quarterback.
