Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins is day-to-day with an ankle injury after wearing a walking boot following Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets, coach Todd Monken said Monday.

Few outside the locker room knew of the issue immediately after the 17-12 defeat in rainy conditions at MetLife Stadium. Judkins finished the game but exited wearing the boot on his right foot and ankle.

That is the same ankle he injured severely as a rookie last season. The damage included a dislocated right ankle and a fibula fracture that required surgery just before Christmas.

The Browns brought Judkins along carefully in the spring. He returned in time for training camp and has not missed a game this year.

Production has lagged behind last season’s numbers. Judkins has 73 carries for 221 yards and one touchdown through five games, averaging 3.0 yards per attempt.

In 2025 he rushed 230 times for 827 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 3.6 yards per carry. He also caught 26 passes for 171 yards before the injury ended his year.

Against the Jets he managed 14 carries for 44 yards and added three receptions for six yards. The team did not announce an injury during the contest.

Monken described the new issue as a tweak and did not rule Judkins out for Sunday’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens. ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi reported the coach’s comments: “Browns coach Todd Monken wouldn’t rule out any of the team’s injured players for the Week 6 home game against the Ravens. RB Quinshon Judkins is day to day after a ‘tweak’ in his ankle.”

Linebacker Carson Schwesinger is also day-to-day after an ankle injury and was seen in a boot as well. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Schwesinger has a Grade 1 sprain.

Backup running back Dylan Sampson remains on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in Week 1. Monken said there is a possibility the team opens Sampson’s 21-day practice window this week.

Other concerns include rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion in the concussion protocol and right tackle Tytus Howard dealing with a knee issue. Defensive tackles Mason Graham and Mike Hall Jr. were inactive with leg injuries.

The Browns enter the matchup at 3-2 and sit second in the AFC North. The Ravens lead the division at 4-1.

Cleveland hosts Baltimore at 1 p.m. Sunday at Huntington Bank Field. Practice reports later in the week will clarify Judkins’ availability and the status of the other injured players.
