The Cincinnati Bengals spent the offseason trying to recapture the form that once carried them to a Super Bowl and an AFC Championship.

After three consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance, their 2025 campaign produced the worst record since Joe Burrow’s rookie year.

The front office responded with a clear emphasis on defense, trading a first-round pick for Dexter Lawrence and signing Boye Mafe, Jonathan Allen, and Bryan Cook to multiyear contracts. Those additions targeted a unit that had lagged while the offense already ranked among the league’s top ten.

That context makes recent speculation about Tyreek Hill noteworthy.

The veteran wide receiver remains a free agent after a serious knee injury in Week 4 of last season with the Miami Dolphins. Multiple surgeries followed, leaving his 2026 availability uncertain.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has said he does not expect his client to sign before the regular season starts. Rosenhaus described Hill as progressing well in his rehab, sharing that recent video of him running hills looked encouraging, and stressed that Hill intends to take his time selecting a team that can contend for a championship.

Rosenhaus’s appearance at a Bengals practice this week, noted by analyst James Rapien, added a layer of intrigue. If Hill can regain the explosiveness that earned him first-team All-Pro honors in 2022 and 2023, when he exceeded 1,700 receiving yards in each season, he would give Cincinnati a dynamic third option behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

The Bengals have capable depth at the position, yet none of those players match Hill’s proven pedigree as a deep threat and mismatch creator.

Any such signing would require Hill to accept a reduced role for the first time in his career. On a roster already featuring two established stars, he would likely face fewer double teams, which could help him rebuild his value if the Bengals open the season strongly.

As a Super Bowl winner from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill has experience contributing to a title-caliber offense.

Whether the agent’s visit to Cincinnati signals genuine mutual interest is still unknown, but the possibility of pairing Hill’s speed with Burrow’s passing attack would raise expectations for a team already investing heavily in a return to contention.

Hill has made eight Pro Bowls while earning five First-Team All-Pro selections throughout his career.
