Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins Still Has One Major Doubter

Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons were able to pull off a huge 22-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

After falling in Week 1, the Falcons came back strong and proved that they can be a contender in the NFC. Cousins looked much better in his second game with the franchise as well.

When everything was said and done, Cousins completed 20 of his 29 pass attempts for 241 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He threw the game-winning touchdown to wide receiver Drake London with 1:05 left in the game.

Defensively, Atlanta was able to come through with a game-ending interception against Jalen Hurts.

While Cousins looked better and delivered a huge win for the Falcons, he still is facing doubters. One outspoken doubter on Tuesday was Joy Taylor.

During a segment on Speak on FS1, Taylor detailed her doubts about Cousins.

“I need more evidence… I don’t think the Falcons went out there and took the game, I think the Eagles put it on a platter for them.”

There is some merit to what Taylor had to say. The Eagles had chances to win the game and they were unable to do so.

However, taking away from the Falcons driving down the field to win the game isn’t right. Atlanta went down the field and won the game. They made the plays when they mattered, while Philadelphia did not.

None of this is to say that Kirk Cousins and the Falcons proved that they’re NFC contenders. It’s more simply saying that Atlanta turned some heads and they deserve all the credit that they’re getting from many in the media.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what comes next for the Falcons. They have a Week 3 matchup set up at home against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Obviously, that game will give them a huge opportunity to prove that they’re for real and to silence all of the doubters that they still have.
