After being selected with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders, what will things look like for Jayden Daniels in five years?

With the No. 2 pick, the Washington Commanders hope that they have found their future franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels. Daniels had a very impressive career at LSU and was very deserving of being selected that high in the draft.

On the Commanders, Daniels will likely get a chance to start right away and try to make his way in the league. Recently, ESPN spoke about what Daniels might look like in five years. Here’s what they had to say.

The area he could lead the league in five years: QB rushing yards. Daniels immediately steps into the NFL as one of the best dual-threats at the position, alongside Lamar Jackson and Justin Fields. He was the only ball carrier in the country to average more than eight yards per carry in 2023 (8.4), as Daniels is an explosive runner who can gain yards in bunches. – Reid

Jayden Daniels is very capable of being one of the best rushing quarterbacks that we will have the pleasure of watching in the NFL. Over the last two seasons at LSU, Daniels totaled 885 rushing yards in 2023, and then 1,134 rushing yards last season. Daniels averaged an impressive 8.4 yards per carry last year, as he was a true playmaker on the ground.

While Daniels was an excellent runner last season, we also saw a big improvement in his passing ability. Last season, Daniels totaled 3,812 passing yards, 40 touchdown passes, and just four interceptions. It was a fantastic overall year for Daniels, and it’s easy to see why his draft stock rose so much.

As a dual-threat quarterback, Jayden Daniels could have a very bright career in the NFL, especially if he can throw the ball like he did in his final season at LSU. With a lot of physical talent, the sky is the limit for the reigning Heisman trophy winner.
