Washington Commanders wide receiver Jaylin Lane suffered a fractured and dislocated ankle Sunday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The injury occurred in the third quarter of a 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in London. Lane was carted off the field and ruled out almost immediately.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that tests showed both a fracture and a dislocation. The ankle has been stabilized.

Lane stayed in London overnight for further evaluation. Additional tests are planned before he returns to the United States.

The 2025 fourth-round pick is unlikely to play again in 2026. Recovery from a combined fracture and dislocation typically requires several months.

Lane, 24, was drafted out of Virginia Tech. He signed a four-year rookie contract that runs through 2028.

Through four games this season he has two receptions for 25 yards. He has not scored a receiving touchdown in his career.

His larger contribution has come on special teams. He has returned 12 kickoffs for 295 yards and seven punts for 84 yards in 2026.

As a rookie he returned two punts for touchdowns, including a 90-yard score. Those remain the only return touchdowns of his career.

Career receiving totals stand at 18 catches for 250 yards across 19 games. He has also logged 15 career kickoff returns for 351 yards.

The Commanders entered the London game at 1-2 and fell to 1-3. Lane’s absence removes a primary return option for the rest of the year.

Washington already is without Terry McLaurin because of a hamstring injury. The receiving group has limited proven depth behind the injured veteran.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels has missed recent games with a dislocated elbow. Marcus Mariota left the Colts game with a knee injury of his own.

Left tackle Laremy Tunsil remains sidelined by a torn triceps. The offense has absorbed multiple absences in the first month.

Lane was evaluated for a concussion earlier Sunday and cleared before the ankle injury. No other issues were reported from that check.

The team has not issued an official timetable. Reports from multiple outlets indicate the injury ends his 2026 season.
