“Caitlin Clark is becoming a problem for the WNBA … on the court. She’s starting to look like the MVP and her highest-scoring team is looking like a championship threat. Uh-oh,” Bayless wrote.
Clark has looked more aggressive attacking the rim lately. She has not shied away from contact and has gotten to the free-throw line more often as a result. That willingness to drive, combined with her ability to knock down deep threes when defenders back off, has created a tough dilemma for opposing defenses.
In one recent game against the Portland Fire, she put together her fourth career triple-double. The performance helped the Fever secure another victory and added to the growing sense that Indiana is hitting its stride at the right time.
Clark reached the 1,500-point and 500-assist marks faster than anyone else in league history during this stretch. She has also moved up the all-time list for triple-doubles, tying for third place after her latest one.
The Fever rank among the top teams in the standings and lead the league in scoring. Their offense has been humming, and Clark sits at the center of it all as the primary playmaker and scorer.
Bayless has watched Clark closely since her college days at Iowa and through her first couple of seasons in the pros. His latest comments reflect how much she has elevated her game in recent weeks after dealing with some early-season challenges, including back issues that limited her minutes at times.
