Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons shared a determined message on social media as the team prepares to open training camp, emphasizing growth beyond his pre-injury form while recovering from a torn ACL.

Parsons sustained the injury in December and continues rehabilitation. He is projected to sit out the opening weeks of the 2026 regular season.

In an Instagram post ahead of camp, Parsons wrote: “I’m not chasing the player I used to be. I’m chasing the standard I owe myself, my family, and everyone who believes in me. The offseason demanded patience, discipline, faith, and the strength to keep going when no one was watching. My family’s love gave me purpose when the hurt tried to take it away. It’s bigger than me now. My little ones are watching, and every step I take is to leave them a legacy they’ll be proud of. Thank you God! #2026 off season #year6”

The standout defender explained he aims to improve rather than simply regain his previous level of play. He described the offseason as one that tested him through unfamiliar challenges created by the injury.

Support from his wife and children has helped ease the recovery process. Parsons is father to three: 8-year-old Malcolm, three-year-old Milana and infant Sherese.

Having one child old enough to grasp his efforts and another newly arrived appears to have shifted his outlook and drive. That combination could produce peak performance once he returns.

Parsons ranks among the league’s premier pass rushers at full strength. Even while recovering, he placed second in a recent ranking of NFL edge defenders by executives, coaches and scouts.

He has posted at least 12 sacks in each of his seasons, including those shortened by injury. Parsons has earned All-Pro recognition in all five of his NFL campaigns, including three first-team selections.

Despite appearing in just 13 games last season, he finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting.

The Packers stood at 9-3-1 when Parsons went down. They held a lead in that contest before collapsing and then dropped their final four games, shifting from contenders to also-rans in his absence.

Green Bay needs Parsons back as soon as possible. The club faces uncertainty along the edge until his return after trading away Rashan Gary, last year’s secondary pass rusher.

With the top two edge performers from a year ago unavailable early, the Green Bay Packers made few additions to the group. Lukas Van Ness is expected to shoulder much of the load after posting declining sack totals of four, three and 1.5 over recent seasons.

Brenton Cox Jr. enters his fourth season with only five career sacks. Second-year player Barryn Sorrell managed 1.5 sacks as a rookie, while new fourth-round pick Dani Dennis-Sutton rounds out the unit.

Questions remain about the depth behind the highly motivated Parsons. How he responds once cleared will be closely watched.
