Holmes has pitched effectively when healthy this year, but he carries a player option for 2027 that he is unlikely to exercise. That effectively turns him into a pure rental, a status that still holds value for teams seeking bullpen stability down the stretch.
Raley has delivered consistent relief appearances throughout the season, placing him in the same high-demand category as most late-inning left-handers. Minter has likewise posted solid numbers from the Mets’ pen and should attract similar attention from clubs looking to shore up their relief corps.
On the position-player side, neither Robert nor Taylor has produced standout offensive numbers in 2026. Still, postseason-bound teams routinely seek extra outfield depth and versatile bench options, making both players logical targets for clubs that prefer proven major-league experience over untested prospects.
In return for these veterans, the Mets are expected to prioritize young talent that can contribute to the next competitive cycle. Stearns and his staff may also consider covering remaining salary obligations on some of the deals, a common tactic that can improve the quality of prospects received.
